It is strategically located on the Banks of the Ebro River opposite the emblematic Puente de Hierro (Iron Bridge) – which was built in the 19th century, ordered by Práxedes Mateo Sagasta, the Riojan politician who was president of the Spanish government. The winery was founded in 1890 and its origin dates back to the period when there was an alliance between Burdeaux in France and Rioja against the phylloxera which invaded Europe in the 19th century.
The building follows the French model and it is an excellent example of the classical architecture, inviting the visitor to go in.
Its subterranean cellars carved in the rock provide delightful spaces where history mixes with the art of winemaking...
The history of the Designation of Origin Riojan can be found in this beautiful and impressive winery.
