The recovery of San Gregorio –one of the traditional subterranean cellars carved in the rock- offers the possibility to enter the culture and the evolution of the production of the first Rioja wine and then, of the history of Logroño.
Getting into the temperature conditions, the darkness and humidity which are typical of masonry vaults allows us to imagine the ageing process of Riojan wine in the 18th century.
San Gregorio is also an invitation to imagine the hidden aspects of the family wineries which are located in the Old Town of Logroño: an unbelievable network of winemaking infrastructures, which are located at the heart of the historical city.
